Olympics few minutes away.... Wanted Gold and Indian Cheers

Its somewhat few hours left for Olympics to kickstart... Earlier I, a devout cricket enthusiast, never got attracted as the aderanline is rushing this time... People are talking about it... The buzz is not like always, why we dont do good in olympics ?, why is their Government apathy? All this why are not questioned..Contrary to this people know more names of athletes like the other time, Media  has kept the news floating in. Campaigns like Quest for Gold has been successfully launched, Our own Rehamn is part of the Olympics Opening ceremony, Ngos like Magic Bus created news long before and are still doing it...Sponsors willing to shell out money... First time a private broadcaster broadcasting the event...My father in law talking a bout realistic chance of athletes doing good (otherwise we only talk of murky politics or real bad Sehwag in cricket) ... Some great feeling is due.

Rewards has already been anounced , Sahara willing to offer 5 kg of Gold to Gold winner, Harayana (where not surprisingly 18 contingents come offering 2.5 crores for ultimate podium) and more announcements are due.... something is good about this Olympics

So here I request to all the people to go and cheer for Indians..... Lets not get why we cant do much better....Just enjoy the game... When we watch a mindless movie we never ask why cant we make world class movie... so whatever is in offer just follow and enjoy it... Remember these athletes have nothing to lose as coming from all odds in their life they have already achieved something great which we, ordinary citizens wont even dream of.... They do work hard and live the life hard way.... support them and help them win...

Attitude has already changed Deepika Kumari has said that she is not happy to be the world number one she wants to win the gold from London.

Death Sentence...

Recently there was an article in Hindu http://orwell.ru/library/articles/hanging/english/e_hanging This article has  come up on the wake of giving mercy to the killers of Rajiv Gandhi. There has been huge row about forgiving those involved in it. It has been twenty years since Mr Gandhi died and more than 70 years since Mr Orwell wrote the article. Letting these people off the crime they did, seems to be logical amongst various set of society who thinks letting go the criminals is a way forward for an emerging society. Death sentence looks medieval or cruel.  But was the crime (murder) committed a civilized step ? A society that sentences killers to nothing worse than prison -- no matter how depraved the killing or how innocent the victim -- is a society that doesn't *really* think murder is so terrible.  When a killer is hanged till death, society is condemning his crime with a seriousness and intensity that no other punishment achieves. I still remember as a child th...

1947 Earth Revisited

Was listening to Rut Aa Gayi re randomly . Felt why is this not reviewed by me . Here goes my two cents and a half  Partition  is probably the most brutal massacre in human history with unaccounted figures of loss and trauma. Now, more than 85 years later, the scars still run deep. The present circumstances continue to serve as cruel reminders of the past. People still kill in the name of religion, nationalism and patriotism. Deepa Mehta's  1947: Earth  is another Partition saga. The second in her trilogy ( Fire, Earth, Water ) this film has, and will, run into controversy. It will surely be accused of being anti-Muslim, anti-Hindu and anti-Sikh, depending on one's political and religious allegiance. The film, in reality, is neither. Based on Bapsi Sidhwa's novel  Cracking India  (or  Ice Candy Man ), Mehta's film encompasses only half the novel. It leaves out the nerve-racking depictions of violence, rape and plunder, as described by Sidhwa. The novel...
